Chores

Responsibility of doing chores is shared equally with a "spin" of the chore wheel, completion of each pie slice is checked weekly by the assigned chore manager. 
See below for a description of each chore

Chore Descriptions

Bathroom
  • Sweep floors
  • Clean the shower
  • Clean & sanitize toilet 
  • Clean sink/counter top
  • Collect rags and towels and floor mats and put in dirty rag bin
  • Wash & fold dirty rags and towels from bin
  • Empty lint tray in dryer (this should be done after each drying event)
  • Wipe Down Washer and Dryer
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there 
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Meditation Room
  • Vacuum the space (under the tables too)
  • Dust everything (including piano)
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there
  • Wipe down windows
  • Organize items in room, including climbing shoes and chalk bags 
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Bouldering Room
  • Vacuum the space
  • Reassemble rugs in their proper position
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Foyer & Upstairs 
  • Sweep entry way
  • Organize items that belong in this room (shoes, jacket, hats and gloves )
  • Sweep stairs
  • Vacuum upstairs hallway
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Family Room
  • Vacuum the space (under the tables too)
  • Organize items in room that belong in the room
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there
  • Wash all dishes lying around
  • Fix up the couch (pillows and blankets)
  • Dust when necessary
  • Wipe down windows
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Mud Room
  • Vacuum
  • Organize items in room that belong in the room
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there
  • Make sure the porch is clean
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Kitchen
  • Sweep the space (under the tables too)
  • Empty drying rack
  • Clean all dishes
  • Wipe down counters
  • Clean out sink bins
  • Clean sink 
  • Clean stove and oven
  • Dust when necessary
  • General room organization
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Pantry
  • Organize all communal shelves/cupboards
  • Sweep floors
  • KEEP ROOM UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Fridge
  • Organize communal shelves
  • Wipe down/wash shelves and door shelves
  • Mark old food
  • Talk to housemates about their potential old food
  • Throw away obvious old food
  • Clean out & put new towel in produce drawer
  • Clean out freezer when necessary
  • KEEP FRIDGE UP TO STANDARDS ALL WEEK LONG

Returnables & Shopping
  • Take back returnables
  • If applicable, use funds towards house needs and keep receipts. 
  • While at the store, shop for family groceries (from the whiteboard)

Sun Room
  • Organize items in room that belong in the room
  • Sweep the space
  • Clear out all items in room that do not belong there 

Garbage & Recycling 
  • Make sure trash and recycling gets taken out on trash day
  • Keep Recycling managed and organized
  • Take out full trash bags and reline with new bags when necessary

Compost Management (seasonal)
  • Empty compost bins- be sure to get kitchen bins and any traveling containers. 
  • First bin (closest to the house): empty bucket into here, things like kitchen or garden scraps. Mix it up!
  • Second bin: balance green and brown stuff. Add some of the green stuff from the first bin, mix around, add brown stuff (like sticks, leaves, cardboard, and paper) if needed. 
  • Third bin: uncover bin. Mix and turn, add water (a container or two full). Be sure to re-cover with the black plastic sheet when you’re done. Let that compost get nice and toasty!
